0 Harstena is located in the northern part of the Gryt archipelago. It's about 6 minutes by boat from Fyrudden harbor, where most boats depart.
The island is a popular destination for both day visitors and boaters alike. Here, you have the opportunity to stretch your legs after cramped days on the boat and perhaps indulge in boat life with a visit to a restaurant.
The island has been inhabited since the mid-1500s. It is known for its well-preserved archipelago environment but also for the seal hunting that was previously conducted. Harstena is somewhat of an idyll in the outer archipelago with its magnificent nature and all the red cottages. Did you know that cottages with black knots were once stables and barns, while those with white knots were residential houses?
The house consists of one bedroom, a large hallway, a bathroom, and a living room/kitchen. The bedroom is separated from the hallway by a sliding door. It's also possible to close off between the hallway and the living room. The living room, with its generous ceiling height, provides a spacious feeling. The room has space for a sofa bed and two armchairs, a small dining table that can be extended with extension leaves, and a kitchen counter/cooking area.
The cottage is located on a large plot with a grassy area outside, perfect for playing games like "kubb" or even a bit of badminton if the spirit moves you. There are also two sun loungers where you can spend lazy days. Why not start the day with a swim from the private jetty just below the cliff?
The nature on Harstena offers everything from sun-warmed rocks, swimming, fishing to blueberry picking in the forest. There are many trails to explore. The water lily pond, located near the bakery, is a must-see when it's in full bloom. On the school field lies the old school, which today houses a museum. If you want to go on a sea excursion, you can go on a seal safari. If you want to explore the archipelago on your own, you can rent our kayaks.
